Can You Recommend A Hdd Camcorder That Is Compatible With Macs?

I have a macbook pro and would like to purchase a new HDD, High Def camcorder that will be compatible with my computer so that I can download movies and edit them. Can you recommend brands/models that I should consider? Thanks
