In this video we take a brief look at the advantages of the full-frame sensor and HD video capabilities of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. This video is shot with the Canon EOS 5 Mark II.
How would one get sound on board a still camera like this? I do not see an XRL input anywhere on it?

The 5D Mark II is NOT a “video camera”. It’s a stills camera that ‘can’ shoot (seemingly really good quality) video. I don’t get why everyone’s so hyped over its video capabilities. If what you want is a high-quality video camera, then buy just that.

because the only video Camera that can do these kind of things (with exchangeable lenses etc… are far more expensive than this.

video cameras with the same quality as this are indeed much more expensive, and another benefit these dslr’s have is a larger sensor compared to ‘regular’ hd videocameras..

buying a video camera with equivalent image quality would be:HVX + 35mm adapter = $4000 + $2000 > so you’re looking around $6000 minimum.VS5D MKII with a prime lens ~$3000Other advantages = small size. You’ll need 10 mins to set up a HD cam with adapter, MKII you just click and shoot even in small spaceIn the right hands you can get videos that would come close to image quality of Red One video camera (which is 7 times more expensive, and no I didnt same SAME quality as Red but CLOSE

then I would say you’re probably not very interested in video period…otherwise you’d know why this camera is damn good for video….watch any Phillip Bloom or Vincent Laforet examples with it

he didn’t reccomend this camera for videographers… probably because there are still some issues about the video that Cannon needs to tweak, I wonder when they will realize the obvious and synergize their videography/photography departments to make a camera to put the others to shame
