I just upgraded from a Panasonic SDR-S7 to the FS100, mainly because I need to zoom like that. Still waiting for battery to charge, Thanks for the preview!

the fs200 is also 37 optical but only 41 advanced zoom as compared to the fs100 which is 47 and also has less pixel! the only thing going for the new model is it has a headphone jack and has a lower min lux (better in low light). No there is no HD version, prepared to pay a arm and a leg if you want a big zoom in a HD camcorder, big sensor + big zoom = big bucks. Most HD camcorders have 10x optical.
