Very happy with the Canon HF-100 and the wide angle is great for shooting the kid in close quarters. Good solid construction and installs easily. Comes with covers and carry case, but I’ve left it on until I need to shoot outside. You can’t use the flash or movie light with it on and they recommend you disable autofocus assist because the lens blocks it, hasn’t been a problem though. Very useful and a great accessory.

Lens is perfect. Comes in Canon protective drawstring bag, and each side of the lens has its own protective cover. Putting the lens on my Canon VIXIA HF-20 takes about 5 seconds.

I shoot in a very confined space and this lens allows me to capture the entire visual field while being in the same room. Worth every penny.

I use this lens with Canon’s HF 200. It’s their introductory HD consumer video camera. Wow, what a difference this lens makes. As other reviewers have stated this lens doesn’t reduce the quality of your footage, if anything it enhances it. This lens is a must have tool for getting close shots while still mainting a wide field of view of your subject and the background. This lens allows you to get up close and personal with your subject without loosing any depth perspective, visual clairty or wide field of view.

I highly recommend this product. Check out canon’s website to see which cameras this lens is compatable with. If this lens is not compatable with your camera then search for your camera on canon’s site and then click the “accesories” tab and you should find a list of compatable lens and accessories.

This product is an excellent choice for those wanting to upgrade their camera to a professional level. I’ve used it for filming interviews of large groups for a webcast show and concert performances. It allowed me to fit a large group easily into the frame and gave great wide-angles of the stage performance, while increasing the amount of light being received producing shots with nice bright contrast. I would recommend this lens as a standard for all HD camcorders. It looks and feels pro and leads to a more enjoyable filming experience.

This is clearly a well made item. But I have to admit that I'm not really impressed with the image it creates for 2 primary reasons:

Angle is improved, but not as significantly as I hoped.

Major fish-eye occurs at widest angles. This I was hoping the lens would somehow compensate for, but really does not. The widest angle (which you will likely want to use for noticeable aspect change) introduces basically an unusable amount of fish-eye distortion.
