Sony Handycam HDR-CX150 Importing HD Videos help into Pinnacle 14?

19 Apr

Okay so I just bought the Sony Handycam HDR-CX150 and I have been having some troubles with importing the HD video files onto my computer that my computer can actually read.

I use the PMB thing that came with the camcorder to import, but when it saves the files onto my computer it leaves folders name like this … 3-27-2010(1) … and the video files named like this … 20100202203912.m2ts. Which my computer cannot play/read.

I have tried converting the HD videos to MPEG files, but that gets rid of the HD Quality which I do not want.

I have also tried to import straight into Pinnacle 14 (which is the editing software that I am using), but it cannot read the formats either.

So does anyone know how I can import the videos from my camcorders internal memory onto my computer in HD, yet, still be able to have my computer read the files so that I can put it in my editing software in HD? And be able to play the HD videos on my computer without having to convert the files?

If you have any suggestions or answers I would very much appreciate it!

Your video format is m2ts, so you can convert your video to wmv or avi video with a video converter program, i know a good program can help you, which is Aiseesoft M2TS Converter, which can convert M2TS to AVI, MP4, WMV, 3GP and all the popular video formats.
You can have a try, following is the link:

Before you spend any money on a converter program go to http://www.videohelp.com and click on Tools in the left hand column. Then in the first DropDownBox next to Search options: select M2TS to. This will list a bunch of applications that will convert M2TS files. Look for Freeware and check the ratings of the programs. Read the comments too.

    Hope this helps

Here is a good tool which is specialized in converting m2ts file to other regular formats without quality loss. It can offer u mpeg hd as output format so that u can import it into your Pinnacle 14 and still keep in high quality.
    Have a try:

To keep the quality of the video, you’d better try MOV format~

Here’s the tutorial for converting MTS/M2TS(sony camcorder video)file to MOV format:

You can not share your HD video unless it is authored (burned) to a Blu-ray disk, and you’ll need a Blu-ray burner for that. Then a Blu-ray player to watch it. After you convert your video and author it to DVD, it becomes MPEG-2 which is optimized for DVD playback. It’s the same as you get when you rent or buy a DVD movie.

MPEG-2 is used in Digital Video Broadcast and Digital Versatile Discs. The MPEG transport stream, TS, and MPEG program stream, PS, are container formats.
