Ask Camcorders

I am in a media class and had been using a digital codec converter box that allowed me to plug in the traditional red/yellow/white video cords from any device on one side, and have it play into the computer through a firewire.

It recently broke so I’m looking to replace it.

I first thought of getting another converter box such as this:

…but, now I want to get a new camcorder that includes this functionality. I must be able to plug in the yellow/red/white AV cords from a DVD or VHS player, and have the video transport into a Mac computer / iMovie software through a firewire cord.

This is NOT for PCs or for USB cords.

Are there camcorders that can facilitate this conversion? Which are the best? Thanks.

I bought a Sony TRV255E PAL camcorder a while ago and had the software on my computer, though now I’ve upgraded to Vista and lost the software/ Drivers disc. I want to get the footage off the tape and onto the computer. I tried to get the drivers from Sony but they wanted the CD key, which is with the disc I lost. Any suggestions?

It’s a Canon Digital Video Camcorder NTSC ZR 200

I am looking for a good camera for my son who wants to make short films and use some kind of editing software on them. I would like to spend about $150 to $200. Where would I buy one too.

Samsung digital camcorder.. video on on memory card. When I plug the camcorder into the computer via USB, only the audio plays. No video. I downloaded the drivers.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I’m into filming and making videos. What type of digital camcorder would be best, keep in mind of editing etc. And please list the cheapest ones.

I have no software cd, so i tried to download everything manually, downloaded correct driver, and also Sony ImageMixer 1.5. I need to import video from camcorder to PC, but i can’t. ImageMixer doesn’t let me to import it. It just let’s me watch it. But import option is not enabled. Anyone can help?
It uses a tape, i need to import video from the tape to my pc.

I shoot some video in a mini video digital camcorder but i dont have the camcorder anymore and was wondering if there is a way that I can watch the mini videos other than with the camcorder?
