I put a Hi8 tape filled with video into my camcorder, but when I play it I get a white screen with a few vertical lines for a second, then snow.
It was fine an hour ago. Either something happened to the tape, or: I had left the camcorders’ tape mechanism open for 20 minutes. But the tape does FF, RW, Play and eject fine.
Basically I have some old footage saved on 8mm tapes off of a video camcorder (this model http://uk.shoppydoo.com/price-digital_camcorder-samsung_vp_w80.html), which I would like to get onto the computer so I can eventually turn it into a DVD.
If anyone can provide me with a detailed explaination of the procedure that would be great, or if you can recommend me a good site that would be great too.
It’s a Sony CCD-TRV45E Camcorder. I just bought from an opp shop in Sydney. It was really cheap, and it’s in great condition, but it is also incredibly outdated.
I was wondering how I could get any footage off it onto a computer? There’s gotta be some way, because they were able to edit home videos in the 90s on computers, and the model is from 1999. I should be able to get footage off this camera, even if it is an eleven-year-old model.
Also, does anyone know where I can buy tapes for it? I’m going to have it looked at tomorrow by some computer nerd guys at the mall, but I want some input from Yahoo too.
If it all screws up, I’ll sell it online, because it’s in fantastic condition. It works great! I just need a tape or two, and I need a chord to connect it to my laptop (it’s windows).
I want to know if I can, and where I can get what I need.
