I just bought a MacBook Pro and and would like to transfer all my Hi8 movies from an old Sony Handycam. I am partially aware of two devices which may be available (Pinnacle and Elgato). I do have an old Dazzle Digital Video Creator 80 but no software and cannot find support on it probably because it is so old. I would guess it is not compatible with a Mac anyway. Any ideas on the best device to use to transfer these movies so I can import them into iMovie? Anything that will give the best picture quality since these are beloved home moves.

Can a MiniDV camcorder still import videos to a computer through a USB cord? Or do I need extra equipment for that? Which camcorder should I buy if all I want is to take videos and import them onto the computer so I can edit and then upload.

It’s not that old. Just the program I got with it is, Picture Package doesn’t work on Vista, which my computer has. And whenever I try to import with windows movie maker, it says it isn’t connected. Help?

I have a Panasonic camcorder and when I hook it up using a USB cable to my PC, I can’t seem to extract any video from the camcorder. The PC does recognize there is a video camera being hook up to it. Is there a special thing I have to do first and how do I import? Thanks.

I can take still image off of it but not live video. It has a slot for SD and a tape and I am trying to get video from the tape, but when I plug the USB cable into the computer doesn’t detect it. Also, it’s “DV” camcorder.

I bought a new HDD camcorder and it said that I could import videos onto my computer with a USB cord. However, when I plugged everything in, no files showed up on my computer. Is this because I have to have a SD card rather than just using the memory on the HDD?
It only came with a photo editing software, which does not pertain to the importing situation. <(-_-)>
