Can you get a Hitachi camcorder to record separate videos instead of scenes?

I have a Hitachi Hybrid camcorder and when I stop and start recording to the camera’s hard drive, it records everything as a separate scene but when I go to take the videos off the camera it’s in one long movie. This is annoying when I only need to take ONE video off of my camera and I don’t have a program that will open this file type so that I can just cut it up.

Can I set it so that it records everything as a separate movie and will show up as separate files when I plug it in to the computer? If so, how do I do this??

I have a JVC Hard Disk Camcorder Hybrid. Is there a way to record video without breaking it into scenes?
