I am transferring my videos from Canon Z60 mini DV camcorder using FIREWIRE 1394 port and Windows Movie Maker. When I watch the same video by connecting the camcorder directly to TV via AV port, the quality of videos is very good. But when I transfer the videos to my PC, using firewire port and windows movie maker, I just receive a resolution of 320×240 pixels. This is very poor resolution. Is their any other form of transferring the Videos from mini DV cassettes to PC, keeping the QUALITY of the videos? Will using any other professional Video software while transferring will help? Do somebody know which FORMAT windows movie maker save the video in? Is is MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 for anyother format?

I bought the camera about 4 years ago, it’s the little bluish-silver Panasonic miniDV. It has no memory card slot, and only takes miniDV tapes. I do see a Firewire port on the camera, an A/V output, and a port I do not recognize that is smaller than the Firewire port, it simply says DV above it.
Is there any special equipment or installations that I need for my computer to be able to transfer my videos? The more detail, the better.

I have a Sony HDD Handycam camcorder. I’ve had it for nearly three years and have never been able to upload the videos to the computer successfully. Sometimes I can get the video but it never has any audio so I can do absolutely nothing with my videos. I was wondering if you think I am doing something wrong or if I need a special software. I am trying to upload a video to my digital camera, not from it.
I dragged and dropped the video into the folder after connecting my camcorder to the PC with the USB. But after I put the video from the PC on the camera, i turn the camera on and it doesn’t show the video. Do I have to convert the video?

Hi i just got a jvc everio and i heard it can be hard to upload.I also hear doing the straight upload by pressing the button on the camera will make it look bad. i have a file converter so i can swich the file t a mod butv i dot know how i can send the video to window movie maker.

I am using the Insignia HD Camcorder. I recorded videos and uploaded them to my macbook pro with leopard. I can hear the audio/sound on the videos, but I cannot see anything. It won’t work in iPhoto and Quicktime player. Please help. How can I fix this?

so i had some really important family videos on my JVC camcorder and i deleted them. i thought i had them on my computer but i didnt. is there a way i can get them back without getting one of those softwares?
here are the details of my camcorder:
its a JVC HDD one.
80 GB
its Everios if that means anything
its 1920 x 1080 upconvert via HDMI
anyways if there is like a recycle bin on the camera or ANYHTING! i need them back.
