I understand it is supposed to be for camcorders and HD video. But can it store data like a normal sd card or can it just store HD video? Thanks a ton for answering!

The “HC” is for “High Capacity”. Some cameras or camcorders were not designed to handle the larger card size – some coincidentally handle the larger card memory size… The SDHC cards are not limited to storing high definition video.
